Africa for Norway - A charity organization

Africa has seen it all. If Western industrial nations, especially in the Christmas season is raising money for Africa, Africa is represented very needy and weak. Children without clothes, skinny kids, slams, very poor hygiene supplies and so much more.
We have heard so many "well-intentioned" Songs for Africa, "We Are The World" "Do they not its christmas."
The Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund has now turned the picture! This time africa helps an industrial nation. Here is their brief description of the video:
Imagine if every person in Africa saw the "Africa for Norway" video and this was the only information they ever got about Norway. What would they think about Norway?
If we say Africa, what do you think about? Hunger, poverty, crime or AIDS? No wonder, because in fundraising campaigns and media that's mainly what you hear about.
The pictures we usually see in fundraisers are of poor African children. Hunger and poverty is ugly, and it calls for action. But while these images can engage people in the short term, we are concerned that many people simply give up because it seems like nothing is getting better. Africa should not just be something that people either give to, or give up on.
The truth is that there are many positive developments in African countries, and we want these to become known. We need to change the simplistic explanations of problems in Africa. We need to educate ourselves on the complex issues and get more focus on how western countries have a negative impact on Africa's development. If we want to address the problems the world is facing we need to do it based on knowledge and respect.
The video was posted on 16 Published November and now has over a million views.
What do you think about the idea? I think the idea is great, the video is to show the rich countries that Africa is not all that weak and hopeless as it is portrayed in the media. Many things are changing day by day on this great continent! Africa and its inhabitants would do very well if the progresses would be more mentioned in the media. Good work Bos and Sis!

To all fashionistas would you wear this?

The youth is africas HOPE!

Africa has soooo many opportunities and talents out there! 15-Year-Old Kelvin Doe is an engineering whiz living in Sierra Leone who scours the trash bins for spare parts, which he uses to build batteries, generators and transmitters. Completely self-taught, Kelvin has created his own radio station where he broadcasts news and plays music under the moniker, DJ Focus. Kelvin became the youngest person in history to be invited to the "Visiting Practitioner's Program" at MIT.

Stories such as these and, of the four girls who have invented a Urine-Powered Generator bring hope and pride back to africa. It is not only in science where we have brilliant young minds but in so much more. Our schools and governments need to see such talents and support them massively, because they are our future, the future of Africa!

I hope to hear more possitive news of these students!

R.I.P Larry Hagman alias J.R. Ewing

Larry Hagman died last Friday.
The great actor known from amusing cult series "Jeannie Out of the Bottle" and his signature role as the baddie JR Ewing on "Dallas," has died at the age of 81 years in the midst of his family circle.
Larry Hagman as JR Ewing was indeed a cold man, but he was as Larry Hagman, a loving husband and father!

May his soul rest in peace!

Inspiring picture!

I love this picture!
You can replace this statement with so many other opposites. We are so different in this world, we have different skin colors, beliefs, opinions, characteristics, body shape, appearance, goals, dreams... Why can we not just accept our differences and live peacefully with each other? All human beings want only one thing PEACE!
Why can't we all, despite all the individuality, just get along?

Princess Komuntale's wedding pictures!

I recently reported about the love of the Ugandan Princess Komuntale for U.S. American Christopher (here). Last Saturday the two love birds tied the knot. It was a pompous royal wedding. High political personalities from Uganda attended the wedding. ( Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi, Vice President, Edward Ssekandi). Also present were cultural delegations from African cultural institutions of Ghana, Congo, DR Congo, Benin and Swaziland.
It was a wonderful and colorful wedding. I wish the couple all the best and a blessed marriage.

I hope you enjoy the pictures

Happy Birthday P-Square

P-Square is my favorite band and the two celebrate their birthday today! The first song, which they have completely convinced me was "temptation." I've heard this song several times a day. Since I know P-Square, my whole (music) focus is on African pop music. For about 5 years, we play almost exclusively African pop music at our parties! And P-Square plays a major role in our playlist. Today the twins celebrate their 31th birthday! I wish them a happy birthday and may God fulfill all their wishes.
So as a birthday present to the fans, they have today released the music video for their latest song "Alingo"!

I think it's great. See for yourself!

Here are some old pictures of them!

Alicia Keys covers Complex Magazine

Alicia Keys looks hot on the cover of Complex Magazine.

On Her Song ‘Brand New Me’
“Don’t be mad that I’m different,” Alicia explains about the song. “Don’t be mad that I’m changed. Don’t be mad that I’m grown. You can’t affect me the way you once did. You can’t be mad. Like, how could you be mad?”
“My favorite part of that song is the bridge. The bridge says, ‘If you were a friend, you’d want to get to know me again/If you were worth the while, you’d be happy to see me smile/I’m not expectin’ sorry. I’m too busy finding myself.’ All of us have had that type of realization: ‘You don’t control me. You might have at one time, but you don’t anymore.’ I love that song so much. It’s so freaking real.”

On Naming Her Son Egypt
“I took an important trip for myself to Egypt. There were a lot of things that needed to change. I was not as experienced then, so I felt close to a breakdown. I went to Egypt, and I went alone. I sailed down the Nile and I saw the temples, the tombs, and the pyramids. It was powerful.” She adds with a laugh, “It was very Cleopatra.”
When we found out I was pregnant, my husband said, ‘Egypt was such an important time for you. That really changed your life.’ Wouldn’t that be amazing as a name?’ Once he said that, I was like, ‘Yes.’

Ugandan Princess what to marry her sweetheart BUT...

Princess Ruth Komuntale, 23years old,  is going to marry her sweetheart Thomas Christopher, a african american citizen.
The introduction ceremony is to take place on 16th while the wedding is to take place on 17th November.
Princess Komuntale met her fiancĂ©, Thomas Christopher when she was in Las Vegas while she was on a trip with her mother and brother.

But many Batooro are not joyful with the decision because Thomas is a foreign man who does not understand the norms and culture of the land.
The elders claim that Komuntale will defy culture if she gets married to the foreign man.
One of Komuntale’s aunties, said that they were willing to find a suitor for Komuntale and have started looking for one among the prominent families in Toro with a good reputation, but were shocked to learn that she already has someone else.
However the princess says: “I have a right to choose a man I love, the one I know I will spend the rest of my life with because marriage is a lifetime commitment. I don’t want to get married to someone I don’t love because I am a princess and people should not base on culture to tear my heart apart…It is not because I don’t respect my culture, but I also have to follow my heart.”

Facts about the kingdom of Toro:

The Kingdom of Toro with its capital Fort Portal lies in the south western part of present day Uganda. The people of Toro are called Batoro and make up 3.2 percent of the population of Uganda which stands at Estimate 35.5 million in the 2012.
The Kingdom is ruled by the Babiito dynasty whose origins go as far back as the 14th century.
The reigning king is King Oyo, 20years,  he is the younger brother of Princess Ruth Komuntale. He is currently the youngest ruling monarch.

I hope that god bless their Union!
Let L.O.V.E conquer it all!

Yvonne Okoro has trouble with Miss Ghana organizer!

There is fire on the mountain. The Miss Ghana contest took place last Saturday. The winner is the beautiful Miss Naa Okailey shooter, a 22-year-old medical student at the University of Ghana.
So far so good! But a person does not seem to be very happy about this decision. The famous actress Yvonne Okoro is more than unhappy with this decision, which she promptly made known on Youtube! Her sister Roseline Okoro has also participated in the pageant. Unfortunately she did not get a title.
Yvonne Okoro tweeted the following:
Now the organizer has made comment on the allegations. In an interview with Hitz Entertainment News , Inna Mariam Patty, CEO of Exclusive Events (Organizers Of Miss Ghana )said Yvonne Okoro’s allegations are unfounded adding that it “shows that she is completely ignorant and does not know the definition of cheating. Ghanaians picked up the phone and voted and who voted? Rosaline Okoro [won the popular vote], do you call that rigging?”
The contestants, she noted, “have worked so hard to be where they are so if certain people do not clinch the title they should not be bitter about it and go about making false allegations. I believe in facts, so if you are saying ABC said it, put out their names and let’s investigate properly … to put an end to the typical attitude of tarnishing people’s reputation.” Inna Patty added that, she drafted the final question and “if we had cooked them to be winners, they would have given the perfect answers … none of them answered that question the way it was supposed to be.” “All these ladies were given equal platform, we as organizers are not out here to create a queen, we give people equal opportunity to be queens and if you naturally [are good] and you shine, it will be yours. People who are bitter out there should put an end to it because it will not help them” . Roseline Okoro’s performance, she added, on the night was not the best, “those who deserve to be in the top three [got there] and everybody is happy about it. It is a shame that people are out there trying to tarnish the reputation of our new queen and believe me, we will not let her go escort free.” Source: http://www.ghanacelebrities.com
