How to keep your home cool!

As mentioned in my last post, the sun was very hot in the last few days, I'll give you some tips on how you can keep your home cool. It is important that the apartment is aired in the early morning and late at night. After that the windows must be closed and the house must be dimmed with dark shutters or curtains.

Fact: I know that an air conditioner is indeed one of the most effective way to keep the appartment cool but it is also the most expensive solution. Did you know that an average sized air conditioner consumes in a month as much electricity as a fridge-freezer in the whole year?

Most household appliances produce a lot of waste heat. Which is convenient at cold times, since it saved on heating energy. But in summer these devices raise the temperature in the apartments even more. Computers, power strips, light and TV should be separated from the power when not in use.
Advantage: this will save you even more money because of the lower power consumption.

For windows there are special tinting film that keep the heat out of the home and also reduce the penetration of UV radiation. With this your home is protected from the high temperatures and your furnitures are also protected from the premature fading. The films are transparent and absorb up to 78 percent of the thermal radiation.

DIY
You can also make your own sun protection for your windows. You need a big piece of cardboard that fits the size of your window surface. The cardboard will be wrapped with aluminum foil. The board will be attached to the window with tape.

Those who can not sleep at night, a hot-water-bag filled with very cold water can help. Just set the bag between the legs if you want to sleep.
Sleep experts also suggest light clothes made of synthetic materials. Because this transport moisture and heat from the body.

A good tip is to pack the sleeping stuff and the bedding into a plastic bag and then put it in the freezer.
If the bed is covered, the cold pleasantly refreshes and helps the body to reduce the temperature until you're asleep.

When you bathe, then do not bathe with cold water, but with lukewarm water. This expands the pores so that the skin can balance the moisture and the temparatures better.

I hope I could give you some good tips. I will join my family, we are preparing some cooling drinks :)
